Last Friday was Teaching Assistants’ Appreciation Day, and what better way to celebrate than one of our very own Teaching Assistants receiving recognition from Teaching Personnel and being presented the Apprentice Teaching Assistant of the Year award!
Laura Dickson was awarded this incredible accolade surrounded by her colleagues during a surprise ceremony held at the school. An event that coincidentally lined up with her birthday celebrations!
David Ward and Jamie Downing from Teaching Personnel were present to congratulate and present Laura with her award. They discussed how Teaching Personnel launched this national accolade 12 years ago to recognise the ‘unsung hero’ nature of the role of a Teaching Assistant.
Proudly displaying her engraved glass trophy and certificate, Laura was overwhelmed with gratitude upon receiving the award, stating:
“I’m in shock, this isn’t something I ever thought I would get, being an apprentice as well, definitely in shock.”
Aarron Stafford, Head of School at Progress Schools Hamilton Square, expressed his admiration for Laura’s work, saying,
“Laura is an exceptional human being and has done so much for the students at Progress Schools Hamilton Square. We are so proud of her!”
Her colleagues echoed this sentiment, praising her unwavering commitment to student success and her positive impact on the school community.
Charlotte Barton, Managing Director of Progress Schools, added,
“Laura’s dedication to her students and her passion for education are truly inspiring. Her ability to connect with students on a personal level and create a positive learning environment is a testament to her exceptional skills as a Teaching Assistant.
