Since Tyler joined Progress Schools, his journey has been nothing short of inspiring. Despite facing challenges beyond his years, including struggles with addiction and a difficult home life, Tyler has shown remarkable resilience and determination to turn his life around and get his education back on track.

Tyler had been excluded from his previous placement due to various issues, including prohibited items and involvement with drugs and alcohol. However, with the support and guidance provided by Progress Schools, Tyler’s transformation has been truly remarkable.

In just six months, Tyler’s growth is evident to all who interact with him. His teacher commented, “Tyler has always been a very respectful student and has not only embraced the opportunity to improve his education but has also become a role model for younger students”. Through developing his leadership skills, Tyler now positively influences others to make better choices, both academically and behaviourally.

His attitude towards education has undergone a significant shift, demonstrating that with the right support, anyone can recognise the importance of knowledge and qualifications for their future. During his final exams, Tyler’s dedication was unwavering. Deputy Head of the school, Lauren, spoke about how “he put in great efforts to attend every day and worked towards completing as many additional qualifications as possible.”

Looking ahead, Tyler had clear aspirations for his future. He planned on learning a trade and had set himself the goal of attending college and obtaining a qualification in Plumbing. His ultimate dream was to become self-employed and establish his own successful plumbing business. Following completion of his exams last year, Tyler successfully gained a place at a local college and is currently completing a Level 1 Construction Multi-skills course, a great step on his path to gaining a trade.

Throughout his journey at Progress Schools, Tyler had been supported by both internal and external partners, ensuring he received the holistic support needed to thrive. From 1:1 sessions addressing both pastoral and academic needs to the invaluable assistance provided by partners such as Aquarius drug support and Free-2-talk music sessions, Tyler was equipped with the tools to succeed.

Tyler’s story is a testament to the transformative power of individualised support and the unwavering dedication of our staff. Through his determination and the support provided, Tyler has not only overcome adversity but has also emerged as a shining example of what can be achieved with resilience and commitment. We couldn’t be prouder of how Tyler has turned his life around and created a new path for his future.
