Progress Schools have officially opened the doors to their new school in Gorton, Manchester. The new school is located inside The Hideout Youth Zone and is a welcomed addition to the local area. The new school is officially open and accepting student referrals, the school will offer an alternative provision for young people aged 11 to 16, who have been unable to remain in mainstream education.

The bespoke and individualised curriculum will support the academic and wellbeing development of students, helping them to achieve. The new Gorton site is the first Progress School to open on Manchester soil and comes as a welcome addition to the local community and surrounding areas. The new school has also helped boost the local economy, as it created a number of jobs for teaching and support staff.

Progress Schools CEO, James Madine, said; ‘’We are thrilled to announce the official opening of our first Progress School in Manchester, we already have sites in Wigan and Stockport, so it’s brilliant to close the loop and have a base in Manchester. The school will go a long way in supporting the children in the local community who, have found themselves unable to remain in mainstream education for a range of reasons. He continued; ‘Being located inside the Hideout Youth Zone brings so many additional opportunities for our students, and we so are grateful to the team at Hideout for their support so far in helping to get this school open. I look forward to working with the team in the coming months and years.’

The nationally based independent secondary school provider is no stranger to working in partnership with Youth Zones. They currently have schools located at The Hive Youth Zone Wirral and Wigan Youth Zone.
