It is with great pleasure that we announce Progress Schools Gorton has been shortlisted as a contender to win ‘Most Inspirational Alternative Provision’ by a school for the upcoming Educate Awards.

The prestigious Educate Awards 2021 ceremony and gala dinner are set to take place on Friday 19th November at the breathtaking Liverpool Anglican Cathedral.

The evening will pay tribute to the work of schools and colleges from Merseyside, Greater Manchester, Cheshire, and Lancashire which are delivering outstanding education and helping students achieve their full potential. With over 21 categories, the shortlist recognises inspiring teachers, dedicated support staff, and strategic leadership teams.

Ashleigh Bamper, Head of School at Progress Schools Gorton said: “Having only opened last year during the pandemic, we are thrilled to have received this recognition already. It’s a pleasure to be nominated for Most Inspiring Alternative Provision by a School as my colleagues have worked extremely hard on the curriculum, and have built strong relationships with our young people.

“We are extremely proud of all our students who have come on board with us and established goals to make something brilliant of themselves. It has definitely been a whole team effort, and we will continue to be a bespoke provision to make a positive difference for young people.”

Some of the other categories for awards that will be announced at the ceremony include The Communication Award, Outstanding Commitment to the Environment, Outstanding Commitment to STEM, and Mental Health and Wellbeing Award.

“After a difficult 18 or so months, it is extremely important that we recognise the amazing schools and colleges which have supported students, families, staff and the wider communities during the pandemic. The calibre of entries was absolutely incredible and deciding on the shortlist was a really difficult process.

“As 2020’s ceremony didn’t take place in its usual format, we are excited to be planning a spectacular event which makes up for last year. We’ll be revealing some really exciting new details over the next few weeks so keep an eye out!”
